David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year 2010

Sue Gunn with Tortoiseshell Buterfly

24 - 29 May 2010. The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London

Sue is delighted that her artwork 'Tortoiseshell Butterfly' was short-listed for the final of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year 2010 exhibition. The competition is open worldwide to amateur and professional artists alike and over 700 entries were received. All the work is for sale and 50% of the sale price goes to fund the work of the Foundation. Work not sold at the exhibition can still be purchased via the website below.

Entering the competition was a departure for Sue since she entered a painting rather than calligraphy or lettering. Last summer, due to surgery on her right hand, she was unable to work for several months. So, she began experimenting using her left hand and found a completely different side to her work - freer, more intuitive and dramatic. This work is one of those pieces.
